METARs and TAFs for Kuwait International Airport (OKBK)
The following data is made available by the Kuwait Department of Meteorology to users for reference and in the case that these information are not readily available via normal channels. All due care is taken to update routinely however at times these data may not be available.
The current update schedule is:
- METAR's - every hour at 5 minutes past the hour.
- TAF's - every 6 hours at 5 minutes past 00Z, 06Z, 12Z and 18Z.
The last 36 hours of both METAR and TAF are provided
For reference, METAR weather reports and TAF (Terminal Area Forecast) are predominantly used by aviation as part of a pre-flight weather briefing, and by meteorologists who use these information to assist in weather forecasting. Specifically:
- METAR's are the scheduled observation taken at the end of each hour. SPECI is an observation taken at an unscheduled time due to certain criteria that is met such as low visibility, low clouds, frozen precipitation, or thunderstorms.
- TAF's are a description of the meteorological elements expected at an airport for a forecast period, typically 36 hours.
